Five Days and Counting!

So the conference is speedily approaching, and even as I write this post I smack my head and realise that most anyone who cares will soon be in the air and far from any internet connection. Whatever the case, there remains two working days till that certain plane arrives, and 60 hours to while away. I’ve wasted a bit of it looking at old conference pictures; here’s a few from Kakeka 2004.

Taken at the Enters’; 15+ people crammed into Steve’s little room, perhaps after a game of soccer even... lovely :)

Chaperone’s activity; the cardboard boat contest. We were the Green Gators’, pretty much the second from the bottom. Does anyone remember who the "fastest sinker" award was given to? ;)

And finally, the group picture; note the pernicious mullets. I’d love to post more (of the first Kakeka, for instance, or last year’s conference), but time and bandwidth do not allow me too. Here’s to a great Campfire 2006!

Academia Schmacademia

A new academic year dawns, and I’m faced with the most daunting task university presents; e-paperwork, or more specifically, registrations. I have a theory; it doesn’t matter what your grades are, the amount of dedication you present, or the efforts you exert; discard it all, because colleges actually filter their students through massive amounts of bureaucratic anarchy. And on the other side of that mountain of verbosity sits a ghoulish dean, laughing and gloating...
Oh, don’t worry; this dark mood of mine will pass. But have a look at some of the course options proudly offered by McMaster:
I’m noticing a theme... Oh yes! Sign me up, I’d love to be indoctrinated!!!
